The Institute for Restorative Communities

Businesses and Organizations
The Institute for Restorative Communities supports companies and non-profit organizations in developing effective tools for managing "stress", enhancing communication, team development and unleashing creativity.   We can help transform a toxic workplace into a much healthier place to spend 40 hours a week.

It is no longer possible for us to deny the emotional aspects of the human experience.  Though in the recent past, emotions have been the step-child of cognitive behavioral perspectives and all but exiled out of mainstream conversation, new insights into the neurobiology of emotion and attachment suggest we are unavoidably emotional beings and that every aspect of life is suffused with affective informaiton.  At IRC we work with managers, teams, employees and CEOs to develop processes for healthy and productive work.

We also are available when relational crisis or conflict threaten office morale or when painful losses create a difficult work environment.  Initiating our core  training that is custom designed to the particular situation can be the best business decision you ever made.

Daven Morrison, M.D. wrote:

As we trudge yet again into another highly polarized election season this fall we all likely know that we will be exposed to messages everywhere crafted to influence our thoughts to get our vote. Whether they are media ads or biased news reports, when we put the lens of AS Psychology on we see they are designed to heighten differences and magnify the emotions of scorn, righteous indignation and at their worst, hatred of the other.

We also, as a community, head into this fall with more poverty as a result of a damaged economy. The professional disciplines of economics and accounting are perplexed as to why it happened. They are embarrassed that the math failed and uncertain as to how to prevent the next one.  Yet it is not just those who set economic policy. If you have an unemployed loved one, or if you have a pension, an IRA, or are looking to raise capital you, too, have been effected by the events of the last 3 years.

The dynamics of what the FBI White Collar Crime group calls the affiliation fraud share common ground with that of the polarizing politics of today. These frauds happen on a grand scale like Bernie Madoff and on a small scale in our school boards and houses of worship. When it happens in the leadership of large organizations the impact is catastrophic in terms of trust, and also in terms of the larger economy as evidenced by what we are seeing today.

The C-Suite, or senior executive suite deserves attention to avoid fraud.
Daven Morrison as well as his colleagues in Law Enforcement and Accounting  have come to see that Affect Script Psychology can shine a light on these dynamics. ASP can inform and guide those who want to protect the general public from those who are dishonest.

Next month, we look forward to having you as our guest in Texas. On Saturday in the afternoon, we plan to first understand what is known about Fraud in the C-Suite, have a dialogue about how ASP can help in that understanding, and then together discuss what can be done about it.
